Oryukdo Hamaji Park, the south gateway of East Sea from which Haeparang Trail starts
on the big run of 770 km.

Starting point of the journey for 770 km-long Haeparang Trails is Busan Oryukdo Park located at the intersection dividing the East Sea and South Sea of Korea.

In other words, the southernmost point of the East Sea is a departure point of the quest. No sooner do visitors take the first steps than they surely utter an exclamation in the face of overwhelming sea cliffs along Igidae-gil. The splendor of Gwangalli Bridge and the fine sand of Gwangalli Beach make wanderers' hearts pound. Haeundae was named by Scholar Choi Chiwon of Shilla Dynasty, who had entered Gaya Mountain to forsake the world but was amazed at its superb scenery on the way. He had inscribed his byname of Haeun (which means sea and cloud) in a rock. From that time on, Haeundae has been on lips to lips to date. The letters in Haeundae Choi Chiwon inscribed on the rock of Dongbaek island still look distinct. At the end of the rough road past Moontan Road over Moon-Welcoming Slope for a moonlight walk is Daebyeon Harbour, well-known for its anchovy distribution center. From here, the old hill road to walk over to Woeseong (a fortress built by Japanese raiders a hundred years ago) in Jukseong-ri, Gijang tells the descendents of the joy and sorrow of the people of the old age as it was, in which they might have had to hang around on foot for a contact with the outside. Passing by Wolnae Station for the East Sea South Line a where one-line railway stimulates heartrending longing, Haeparang Trail hands over its baton to Ulsan.
